Clipboard history

Mochi keeps a searchable history of everything you copy. Press ⌥⇧V to open it, then press ↩ to paste the selected item into the app you were using.

Two ways to open it#

• ⌥⇧V opens the clipboard window. Use the arrow keys to move through the list, or type to filter it.
• Typing clip: in the search window searches the same history. Pinned items appear first.

Searching your history#

Type to filter the list. Every word you type must appear somewhere in the item, in any order. Matching ignores capitals and accents. For example, docker postgres finds a command containing both words.

What Mochi can find inside an item#

Pinning items#

Pin items you paste often, such as an email address or a standard reply. Pinned items stay at the top of the list and are never removed automatically. Pinning requires a Pro licence. Unpinning always works, even without one.

Copying the same thing twice#

Mochi moves the existing item to the top of the list with a new timestamp instead of adding a duplicate. The item keeps its pin and any text already read from an image.

What is never recorded#

• Anything marked as a password by a password manager. 1Password, Bitwarden and others mark their copies, and Mochi skips them.
• Anything an app marks as temporary or automatically generated.
• Mochi's own copies. Pasting a snippet or a history item does not add it to the history again.

How much history is kept#

Set a maximum number of items and how long to keep them in Settings > Clipboard > Retention. The free version has no lower limit than the paid one.
