The writing review

Press ⌥⇧C twice to open the review window. It shows your text with each suggested change underlined, and a card for each change on the right. You accept or decline them one at a time.
Why changes are shown separately
A rewrite usually contains several separate changes. Some will be corrections you want, and some will be wording you chose on purpose. Reviewing them individually lets you keep the ones you want. Pressing the shortcut once still applies everything without asking.

You can also click. Click an underline in the text to select its card, or click a card to jump to that sentence. Accepting a change updates the text in the window, so you can see the result as you go.

Each category has its own colour in the text, so you can see what kind of changes are being suggested before reading the cards.
Writing goals
Open the goals panel in the review window, or go to Settings > AI, to set your audience, register, purpose and dialect, and to choose which categories you want suggestions for. Turning a category off stops those suggestions being generated at all. Correctness cannot be turned off.
Writing statistics
Press ⌘I to see reading level, length, passive voice, adverbs, hedging words and a score out of 100. These are calculated on your Mac, appear immediately, and update each time you accept a change.
The score is based on how many issues there are relative to the length of the text, so a short message is not penalised in the same way as a long document. Measures that only apply to English are hidden for text in other languages.
Applying the changes
Click Apply to replace your original selection with the edited text. The same safeguards apply as for the single-press shortcut: Mochi will not overwrite text you changed while the window was open, and falls back to the clipboard if it cannot replace the text. Press ⌘C to copy the result instead.
Two things to be aware of
- Suggestions that Mochi cannot match to the exact wording in your text are discarded rather than shown, so you may see fewer changes than were suggested. This prevents a change being applied to the wrong part of your text.
- Occasionally the explanations on the cards are produced by comparing the original and rewritten text rather than coming from the model directly. The window tells you when this has happened.
